Using Hyphens with Adjectives
Use a hyphen when two or more words create one adjective. Here are some examples:
- A sign-in sheet
- The second-last runner
- A poorly-drawn picture
Do not use a hyphen if the two words are not being used to create an adjective.
Please sign in on the sign-in sheet.
That picture was poorly drawn.
